Counselling and Therapy Services
I am a COSRT registered integrative therapist, specialising in relational and psychosexual therapy for individuals, intimate partners and couples. I work with families and non intimate partners and those who are concerned about compulsive sexual behaviours and their partners.
About me
I have trained and worked with National Marriage Guidance, Scottish Marriage Guidance, Relationships Scotland and Relate. After my initial training, I specialised in psychosexual therapy, qualified as a supervisor and gained a Masters in Relationship Therapy (UEL), which enabled me to add working with families to my portfolio. More recently I gained my Compulsive Sexual Behaviour Diploma with CICS. Having worked with a diverse client base, witnessing the impact of social constructs on clients, I have a keen interest in diversity, culture and gender studies and intersectionality, compulsive sexual behaviours. I am interested in the impact of therapeutic work on the practitioner and their intimate relationships and other systems. I am a registered member of COSRT, as a practitioner and supervisor, and AFT.
Relational Counselling Services
Supervision
I offer supervision using the 7 eyed model of supervision for those in training, be it relational , psychosexual or CSB training programmes and for experienced relational and family therapists, sex therapists, and those working with Compulsive Sexual Behaviours.
My counselling practice, right from my early training with Relate, has been focused on working with couples. This led me to specialise in psychosexual therapy working with sexual dysfunctions. I then trained in family work and, more recently, I added to my portfolio working with those who are concerned about potential compulsive sexual behaviour patterns and their partners. I would describe my approach as integrative, combining systemic, psychodynamic theoretical models, CBT, Solution Focused and Narrative Therapy in practice, tailoring it to each individual client(s). I work exclusively online.
I think a difference is in the way that I work with clients. A lot of counsellors focus on what's going on 'inside' people - what they are thinking and feeling. This is often a valuable approach and I add to this by helping people consider the impact this has on their relationships with others - my focus is not solely on how we think & feel, but also on how this impacts on all our relationships with others.
I have worked with a wide variety of clients and relationship configurations. I aim to create a safe and inclusive therapeutic space for GSRD, LGBTQIA+ clients, offering support navigating the complexity of 21st century relationships. I have experience of working with those concerned with their compulsive sexual behaviours in a private capacity and through the Controlling Chemsex charity, my approach is sex positive, non pathologising and informed by sexology.
